BECERA

BECERA

BECERA is an independent organisation for those early childhood practitioners, researchers and practitioner researchers working in the British Isles who want a space to meet, enquire and discuss issues relevant to their work with young children and families.

BECERA aims to stimulate, support, create and disseminate rigorous, grounded and conceptual knowledge and its applications to our early childhood services. It does this through an annual conference where research is presented and subjected to peer-review. The knowledge generated from each conference will be made available in an on-line, searchable database.

CREC

CREC - the Centre for Research in Early Childhood - is the home of CREC in Birmingham and Amber Publications & Training (APT). CREC is located in the St Thomas Children's Centre, near Birmingham's city centre. CREC specialises in early childhood research which has relevant and meaningful outcomes for practice and policy. Some of its research is transformed into training and development programmes designed for the specific needs of the early years sector.

CREC is dedicated to raising the quality of early childhood provision in order to enhance the life chances of children. It does this through these four charitable 'objects':

  • improving the visibility and prestige of work and research in the field of early childhood;
  • undertaking research in this field;
  • increasing awareness of diversity and social exclusion and promoting equity in the field;
  • supporting professional development for those who work with young children.
