BECERA 2019 call for papers is now open

Calling all early childhood practitioners, researchers, practitioner researchers, and PhD and postgraduate students!

The BECERA website is now open for proposal submissions and we would like to invite you all to put forward a study for presentation at our 9th conference on Tuesday 19th February 2019.

The BECERA conference is an opportunity to share your concepts and theories, and to further stimulate your thinking on your research area via peer review and discussions with like-minded people from across the UK and beyond.

This year's conference is focusing on LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM and all papers should be submitted under one of the following strands:

  • There is much research which supports the significance of the ‘home learning environment’ and we invite delegates to share ideas about what this is:
  • - The engagement of parents
  • - ‘Companionable learning’, which may or may not include parents
  • - Parental involvement in transitions and other aspects of home learning
  • What learning places and spaces are available and accessible to young children:
  • - Parks
  • - Shopping
  • - Libraries
  • - Open space
  • - Community art and events
  • - Social media and internet
  • What kind of learning can occur in these spaces and how are these changing or contracting?

Are there particular types of learning in outdoor or non-centre based spaces and places which provide for the development of educational dispositions or attitudes, the ‘super-skills’ of learning, which last a lifetime?

Are there environments where resilience, exploration, curiosity, self-motivation, independence and social collaboration are fostered?

All proposals must be submitted via our website. You will need to set up a free account or sign in to your account (if you registered and/or submitted a paper before) and provide the following information:

- Your name, contact details and organisation

  • - The title of your presentation
  • - The type of presentation, e.g. Individual Proposal
  • - A 250-word abstract (addressing each element specified on the submission form)
  • - 5 abstract related keywords

Papers received will be reviewed by the BECERA Scientific Committee and, if accepted, each will be scheduled for a 30-minute individual presentation, although all successful submissions will be clustered in groups of two and three creating symposia.

All accepted papers (abstracts) will also be included in the BECERA online database that is free to access to all registered users.

The deadline for paper submissions is Monday 7th January 2019.

Please note that website registration, abstract submission, or confirmation of your abstract being accepted does not automatically guarantee you a place at the conference, for which you will need to purchase a conference ticket.

Make sure you register to receive our e-mail updates or follow us on Facebook and/or Twitter

We look forward to receiving your proposals!
